HWPL Advocates for Global Peace Through Intercultural Dialogue and Education

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international non-governmental organization, recently marked the 8th anniversary of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) with an event focused on 'Building the Minds of Peace: Promoting Institutional Peace via Intercultural Dialogue and Understanding.' The gathering at HWPL's peace training institute in South Korea brought together approximately 12,500 experts from various fields to discuss and promote the institutionalization of peace.

The DPCW, established in 2016 through the collaboration of international legal experts, sets forth principles aimed at preventing and resolving conflicts, fostering a peaceful global society, and delineating the roles of individuals, communities, and nations in achieving enduring peace. HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee underscored the significance of interfaith dialogue in this process, advocating for a unified approach to religious values and practices to enhance global harmony.

Beyond interreligious dialogues, HWPL is broadening its peace education initiatives and collaborating with media professionals to ensure press freedom and improve peace-related reporting. Karim Goundi of the HWPL West Africa Press Forum highlighted plans to extend peace journalism training across West Africa, aiming to bolster reporting standards and expertise in the region.
