Hibbett and Nike's First String Initiative Empowers Duncanville High School Basketball Programs

Hibbett, in collaboration with Nike, has selected Duncanville High School's boys and girls basketball programs as the second beneficiary of their First String philanthropic initiative. This program, aimed at empowering the next generation of student-athletes, includes a $50,000 donation to the school's basketball programs, along with four-year scholarships and internship opportunities at Hibbett's corporate headquarters for one student from each team.

The announcement was made during an event celebrating the launch of The Origin, a mini-series featuring Duncanville High School alum and Orlando Magic point guard Anthony Black. Sarah Wangaard, Hibbett Vice President of Marketing, highlighted the significance of the initiative, noting its potential to make a lasting impact on student-athletes both on and off the court.

Dr. T. Lamar Goree, Duncanville ISD Superintendent, praised the partnership for its community support and investment in student-athletes' futures. The event also featured a screening of Anthony Black's episode of The Origin and the distribution of new Lebron Witness 8 sneakers to each player.

Robby Bullington, Hibbett Vice President of Stores, expressed enthusiasm for the First String program's future impact on high school student-athletes and their career development.
