Mothers’ Milk Bank California Enhances Summer Donation Efforts to Support Medically Fragile Babies

As the summer season approaches, Mothers’ Milk Bank California is taking proactive steps to address the anticipated decrease in breast milk donations. The organization has announced the introduction of free, flexible milk pick-up services and Saturday screening appointments from June 21 through August 15, 2025, in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Alameda Counties. This initiative is designed to accommodate the busy schedules of lactating parents, making it easier for them to contribute to the vital cause of supporting medically fragile babies.

The new services include contactless milk pick-ups from donors' homes Monday through Friday, allowing for seamless integration into summer activities. Additionally, Saturday screening appointments, conducted via phone or virtually, are now available for those unable to attend during the week. This flexibility is crucial in maintaining a steady supply of donor milk, which is especially important for babies in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) who rely on it year-round.

Mothers’ Milk Bank California is also making strides in ensuring equitable access to donation opportunities by offering professional medical interpretation services in over 200 languages. This effort removes language barriers, enabling a broader range of individuals to participate in the donation process. The organization provides all necessary support, including packing materials and instructions, to ensure a safe and contactless donation experience.
