Ashby Ponds Residents Fuel Future Leaders with Over $370,000 in Scholarships

The Ashby Ponds community in Ashburn, VA, has set a remarkable example of generosity by contributing over $370,000 to support the educational journeys of fifty local high school students. These students, known as Student Scholars, have demonstrated exceptional dedication and professionalism in their roles within the community's eight on-campus restaurants. The scholarships not only alleviate financial burdens but also serve as a testament to the community's investment in the future of these young individuals.

Each Student Scholar is awarded a $12,000 scholarship, distributed as $1,500 per semester, with six students receiving an additional named scholarship of $10,000, bringing their total to $22,000. Furthermore, four children of Ashby Ponds employees were granted an extra $5,000, increasing their total scholarship to $17,000. These awards are contingent upon the students completing 1,000 hours of work over two years, maintaining good academic and professional standing, and enrolling full-time in a college, university, or trade school.

Tom Channon, Executive Director at Ashby Ponds, highlighted the residents' generosity and the transformative impact of these scholarships on the students' futures. In addition to the four-year scholarships, 32 college students juggling work and studies were awarded the One-Year Scholars Award, a $3,000 scholarship, further demonstrating Ashby Ponds' commitment to supporting its team members' educational pursuits.
